Nar Phu Trek
20th September 2025 (13 days)
£1350 per person
£200 deposit and fully flexible payment plan
Trek to Nar Phu, the northernmost valley in the Annapurna Region and soak up the enigma hidden in the rugged terrain, ancient monasteries, remote settlements, and giant mountains. Often dubbed as a hidden gem, this valley remained inaccessible to outsiders, rendering it one of the least-explored destinations in the region, until 2002. Trekking to Nar Phu entails traversing the gorge, rugged terrain, glaciers, alpine meadow, and a high mountain pass. In the heart of this trek lies the villages of Nar and Phu, which still seem to be untouched by the course of time. The people living here have preserved centuries-old traditions and culture alive. Continuing animal husbandry and farming they still seem self-reliant. The architecture and the outlook of the villages take you centuries in the past back, giving the impression that the time has come to a standstill in these two villages. While Nar Phu Valley unfolds the mystery and beauty, crossing the giant Kang La pass is a challenge. Due to its remoteness, rugged terrain, distance to cover, and elevation gain, the trek is leveled as moderate to difficult. So good physical condition is required. The accommodation and food are pretty basic, compared to its neighboring trekking area Annapurna Circuit. The area is leveled as a restricted area by the authority so you must be in a group of at least two and having a guide or porter is a must. The trip starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Koto, from where the trek starts veering towards the northern plateau. The route first goes to Phu village, retraces for two days and goes to Nar village, before crossing the formidable Kang La Pass. The trek ends in Pisang, followed by an overland trip back to Kathmandu.
